Technology Task 1 & 2

For Technology we had to describe How the Maori people fished prior to the European arrivals and how the commercial fishing is done in New Zealand today. Those are the only tasks for Technology :)

Coding the Microbit

Today for tech, Miss Ferguson has been teaching us about coding the little Microbit. I learnt how to code the Microbit to play Rock, Paper, Scissor with me. The picture down below is how I coded the Microbit.

Technology - Animals

 (Chatter)

Everyone picked out an animal and drew it on paper. We detailed our animals, colors, and shapes.

We then looked up our animals and found some very cool forms to put our animals in. I picked a bunny. My bunnies name is Bonnie:) We started drawing our animal’s body parts on some brown paper.

After that, we cut out our parts. After cutting we pinned our parts onto some fabric of our choices. We then started to cut out our fabrics and then unpin our fabrics from the paper. For her body and eyes, I had to cut out two duplicates.

After unpinning, we went on sewing. I started sewing my bunny's inner ears. I did a lot of stopping and turning. After I sewed her eyes I then showed Whaea Heather, our sewing teacher. She said it looked good and then told me to go onto the next step, her eyes.

She sewed one of Bonnie’s eyes to demonstrate sewing her eyes. I sewed her eyes and made some mistakes on my way through the sewing. So I unpicked the sewing and restarted. I eventually succeeded and it turned out alright.

After showing Whaea Heather my sewing I then went onto the next part of her face, her nose/snout. Her nose was very easy. Since I picked a triangle nose, I just had to sew in triangles.

A while later, I went on sewing her two body parts. I sewed her body parts together Whaea Heather came to check if there were any holes in my sewing. Yes, there were a few holes in there. So she sewed the holes shut.

Right after she finished sewing my holes, she turned my animal inside out. After that, I went straight into stuffing. For her ears, I had to use a pencil to stuff all the stuffing in because I might rip the fabric. I worked my way through her ears and onto her body.

After stuffing, I cut out a bottom piece for Bonnie’s body. I then pinned her bottom onto her body. Science this part was tricky Whaea Heather insisted for her to sew the last piece for me, Thank you, Whaea Heather.

In conclusion, I was extremely pleased with the way Bonnie turned out.

Thank you, Mrs. Raj and Mrs. Patea for providing us with sewing classes.
